The Whitings, as well as loving and writing poetry, also wrote a considerable amount of prose. During the 1930's and 1940's my grandmother, Frances B. Kirschner (or simply F.B.K., as she often signed her work) wrote a column, Dishwater Reflections for the Spring Valley Sun, a weekly newspaper from Spring Valley, Wisconsin. She moved to Montevideo, Minnesota in 1951 and continued to contribute her prose and poetry on a regular basis to the Montevideo American News until shortly before her death in 1976. Please click the links below for her stories and remembrances, as well as remembrances by her grandmother, Sarah Jane (Jennie) Talcott Whiting.
