Peter Allen
Born bef 1770
Died 1836 in Michigan probably at the home of a son.
Little is known about Peter Allen except that he came to Onondaga County, NY from Connecticut and settled in or near the town of Fabius in the 1790s. He married Roena Pearce. Nothing more is known about her. Known children of Peter and Roena were eight sons, Peter Jr., Daniel, Marvin, Luther, James P., Norman, Elisha and Asahel. Peter was a contemporary of Enoch Benedict, also of Fabius. Elisha, son of Peter, and Mercy, daughter of Enoch, were married in February 1831, further linking those two families since two of Mercy's Benedict cousins also married Allens.

Surrogate Court )In the matter of proving the will ) Onondaga County of Peter Allen deceased )by Marvin Allen of the town of Canandaiuga of the county of Ontario, being duly sworn, deposeth and saith that Peter Allen who was at a ___________rtely previous to his death, an inhabitant of the town of Fabius in the county of Onondaga aforesaid of State of New York, died in the territory of Michigan on or about the Eighth day of August last past leaving this deponent him surviving, also leaving Luther Allen and Asahel Allen, who reside in the county of Cattaraugus, State of New York, Also Norman Allen, James P. Allen and Daniel R. Allen who reside in said territory of Michigan; also James Allen the son of Elisha Allen deceased of the county of Cortland in said state of New York, also Harriet Allen, Roena Allen, Asahel Allen, children of Peter Allen Junior deceased, and two other children of Peter Allen Junior deceased whose names this deponent does not now recollect, who reside in said county of Cattaraugus, hiz (sic) only recl (sic) of kin and heirs at law him surviving; all of whom are of full age except the said Daniel R. Allen, James son of Elisha Allen, Harriet Allen, Roena Allen, Asahel Allen, son of said Peter Allen Junior and the two whose names are not recollected who are minors, under twenty one years of age that said Peter Allen deceased left [effects] in said Onondaga County, that the said Peter Allen deceased died a natural death an instrument in writing purposing to be his last will and testament and by which this deponent and Luther Allen are named as Executors thereof. This deponent therefore [requests] that such proceedings be had before the Surrogate of said county of Onondaga as are necessary to have said instrument admitted to probate and to receive as a will of real and personal estate, according to law.Sworn: October 15, 1836. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF PETER ALLEN

I Peter Allen of Fabius, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in ________ and form following, that is to say, First, I give and bequeath to my sons Luther Allen, Marvin Allen, Asahel Allen, Norman Allen and Daniel Allen, each the sum of three hundred dollars, to be paid to them in one year after my decease; I also give to my son James P. Allen the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars; and to my grandson James Allen (son of my son Elisha Allen deceased) the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars. The same to be paid to my son James P. one year after my decease; and the sum hereby bequeathed to my grandson James to be paid when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years. I also give to my grand children, the heirs of my son Peter Allen deceased, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to be divided equally among them when they shall arrive at the age of twenty one years. The residue of my property that I may be in possession of at my decease, It is my will and desire that all my debts and funeral charges shall be paid out of the Same, and the residue to be divided among my sons, Luther Allen, Marvin Allen, Asahel Allen, Norman Allen, Daniel Allen and James P.
