Clitherall Minnesota

Thank you for visiting Kathy's Family. This site is devoted to making my family's past come alive. The following is a brief overview of these families.

The Allen family has been traced back to Peter Allen who lived in Connecticut, New York, and Michigan.  Descendants of Peter Allen lived in New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Canada. Harry Allen married Hattie Mae Hankins in Mound City, S.D. The Hankins family had originally settled in New Jersey.

The Jensen family emigrated from Jutland, Denmark and settled in the small southern Minnesota community of Alden.  Anna Marie Jensen married Claude Henry Allen in 1922.

The Kirschner family emigrated from Germany.  They settled in Cleveland, Ohio and Wisconsin. George Kirschner married Katherine Blumenschein in 1888.  Katherine was born in Wallbach, Hesse, Germany.  A cousin, Fred Kirscher Jr. joined his father-in-law, Andrew Hemrich, to work at the Hemrich brewery in Seattle, Washington.

The Grinnell family goes back to Matthew Grinnell in Little Compton, Rhode Island. George Charles Grinnell married Addie Belle Whiting in 1888 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Their only child, Frances Bonniebell, married Fred Kirschner. The Whiting family had settled in Connecticut, followed the Mormon trail and helped found Clitherall, the first permanent settlement in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Allied families were the Morleys, Talcotts and Hulets.
